The Race He Chose

David Sinclair says it early: he had wanted to move up to the 100K for more than a year, but was scared to give that much of a season to one race. That is the reason to watch this film. He quits coaching, builds around knee tendinitis, and points everything at CCC. Running, bike hours, gym work, gels, gear tests, all of it.
The race goes the way longer races often go when someone strong finally steps up. He feels amazing early, maybe too amazing. Then the bill comes due. The energy drops, the doubt shows up, and the whole thing turns into a much simpler job: keep fueling, stay patient, and keep the race from coming apart.
He finishes second, but that’s not really the point. The more interesting thing is that the 100K stops looking like an idea in this film and starts looking like his race.
CCC 2026 is coming up soon. This is a good one to revisit before it does.
